STEM Integration Across the Middle School Curriculum
What could it mean for students if STEM truly permeated their entire learning environment? What does STEM look like within curricular areas that do not traditionally fall into what we naturally think of as STEM content areas? Our two-year journey to becoming an IDOE STEM certified school lead to cross curricular collaborations unlike any in which we had previously engaged. It also created incredible learning opportunities for students and staff. Join us to explore our journey and the lessons learned along the way. Presenters will discuss their challenges of cross curricular collaboration, the process of incorporating Language Arts, Social Studies, and Unified Arts into the STEM curriculum, the value of having all content areas and teachers involved, how the 4 Cs of STEM fit into each content area, and strategies to help create all staff buy-in to this initiative. Presenters, all teachers within this journey, will share information and handout/resources for STEM integration across the curriculum.
